Tournament Staffing Estimates for 2025

Postby chairman » Tue Nov 02, 2021 3:41 pm

Aloha,

The PGA has committed to moving forward with the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai as scheduled for January 14-18, 2025

January 14th & 15th Pro-Am Days
January 16th-18th Professional Competition (Golf Channel)

The State of Hawaii and the County of Hawaii have not issued statements regarding COVID-19 precautions that would be required in 2025. We are proceeding as if Spectators will be allowed again this year for the tournament days. For now we will assign staffing under this assumption and most volunteer groups will be assigned based on pre-pandemic staffing levels.

Eliminated Groups: Pro-Am Marshals (eliminated permanently).
Reduced Staffing: Admin/Misc, Golf Channel, Hospitality Tents, Standard Bearers, Tournament Marshals, and Walking Scorers.
Unchanged Staffing: Pro-Am Retail, Shuttle Carts, Spectator Village, Parking.
Other Groups: Remain under review at this time, but would be unchanged or only slightly reduced.

Attached below is a spreadsheet highlighting the numbers of staff that we had in 2024 and is expected this coming year. Also, a write-up attached from our PGA representative Kelly Fliear on his 2022 thoughts as to staffing requirements (most revelant update for post pandemic estimates), Marshal per Hole (will be increased to properly control estimated spectator numbers), and limitations. It is important that everyone understand that these conditions could change at any time.
